Rights Respecting School

Who we are;

We are elected representatives from each class who look at ways we can improve our school and community.  We vote for new representatives at the start of each year. Each representative is known as a School Ambassador.  They all wear a special Rights Respecting School badge so that you can see who they are. Last year we supported Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, Children in Need and Thirsk Homeless Organisation.

We were awarded the Gold Rights Respecting School Award in 2024.  The assessor stated some of our strengths included

“confident children who clearly know their rights and are committed to helping to realise these for other children locally and globally”

“relationships based on mutual respect and trust.  Learning about rights is clearly affecting relationships in a positive way”

What we are busy with at the moment;

We are planning how to build on our Gold Award.
