Posted 4/5/2017

We have all been very impressed with the hard work and positive attitudes of our Year 6 children in the lead up to their SATs.  Enjoy a rest this weekend, treat yourselves and be ready to show what you're made of on Monday morning.

Wishing you all a well deserved Easter Break!

Posted 10/4/2017

The Year 5/6 Teaching Team wanted to say a massive well done to all of the children in Year 5/6 for working very hard throughout the Spring Term.  It has been a busy term with lots of fun activities (East Barnby, sports events, auditions, and much more).  The upcoming Summer Term will prove to be even busier!  We look forward to everyone returning, raring to go and ready to do themselves proud!

Live report from East Barnby!

Posted 29/3/2017

Hi mums and dads, here we are at East Barnby.  It's nearly 9 o'clock at night and Year 5 are all together after a brilliant few days of activities.  Today we had an amazing time canoeing down the River Esk all the way towards the sea at Whitby!  We were in groups with two canoes tied together and we all had to work as a team to paddle down the river.  We all looked like telly tubbies in our buoyancy aids and helmets and a few people were staring at us from the river bank!  Last night we went sledging in the dark and crawling around a night wire course blindfolded!  We're pretty tired now so we'll sleep well tonight and give Mr W, Mr O and Mrs E. a nice rest - NOT!

We'll try to put some some photos on the school website for you to see before we get home!

East Barnby is a cool, once in a lifetime experience!  Good night, sleep tight!

An Inspirational Visit from an Artist

Posted 24/3/2017

This week we had a professional artist called Neil McBride, in school. We painted figures using: paints (with our fingers or brush), dabbing with a cloth and splashing.  At the end of one day, we put up all the figures on a display-board, from smallest to biggest, to make a crowd scene.

Netball Area Finals

Posted 14/3/2017

With our silver medals from the Northallerton Schools competition glinting in the sunshine, we travelled to Thirsk High School to play in the Area Netball Finals.  The standard of play was very, very high as we came up against lots of Club players from other schools who were extremely skilful netballers!  However, we dug in deep and still managed to win one game and draw two and the team that beat us in the group matches went on to win the whole competition, so, despite not bringing any more medals home, we can be very proud of our performance!  Well played Adam, Chris, Lewis, Leah, Morgan, Grace, Connie and Alexa!

A Wonderful World Book Day (blog by Zangi)

Posted 2/3/2017

Today, it was world book day so we came to school and we wore costumes of our favourite book characters to celebrate all the authors and illustrators. This year’s World Book Day was a special one because it was the 20th World Book Day!  In English we have been making free verse poems about a book called ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. The book is about a girl having a crayon and what she drew came to life. Our teachers have been really impressed with our poems.  Look at the photos in our gallery here on our website.
