First week back update

Posted 8/9/2016

We have certainly had a busy week and with lots of letters home, so please check bags to make sure you have seen them all.  A couple of reminders:

Mrs Seal's class will start swimming sessions at the Leisure Centre on Friday 16th September so please make sure that permission slips are back and swimming kit comes into school on Friday.

We will be doing our disclosing tablet investigation as follows which is when the children will need to bring in their tooth brushes:

Mrs Bradnam  Wednesday pm

Mr Onions and Mrs Seal Thursday pm

PE Kits:  We ask that PE kits come into school on Mondays and remain in school until Friday.  That way we can be flexible if the weather stops us doing games on our usual day and saves the headache of having to remember which day to send it in on.

This week.

We kick-started our new theme, Burps, Bottoms and Bile, with a visit from a local dentist who came into to talk to the children on Wednesday afternoon about the importance of keeping their teeth clean and how to do it.  (See photos in our Gallery).  We have also been learning about the types of teeth humans have and checking our own mouths to see if we have them.

Our Maths focus this week has been Place Value and we will continue this next week.  In English we have looked at information texts and are working on designing and writing a poster all about teeth.

Please note:  One group of children will have done a pre-read with their class teaching assistant on Friday and should have brought their reading text home to read again ready for Tuesday.  Please check!

Next Week.

Guided reading sessions will start for the rest of he class so please check bags for an A4 sheet which is the text they are working on.  (There is more information about Reading Recovery on our Y3/4 Information and Support page.) First spelling lists will come home on Monday, glued into the Home School Book, so that the children can practise them ready for the test on Friday.

To finish, we are really pleased that James Lofthouse, a skills coach with the FA, will be coming in to work with Y3/4 on Tuesday mornings starting next week - especially as he is one of our parents!
