Half Term

The children have loved writing their own poems based on 'The Sound Collector'.  They have also been working hard on their fractions.  It was lovely to see so many families at both the 'Open Afternoon' last Friday and the consultations earlier this week.  Thank you for your continued support and we hope that you all have a good break next week.

Super Sculptures

The children have had a marvellous time making their 'Superhero Sculptures' using Mod-roc this week.  They have been also been busy completing assessments, as well as looking at 'Superworm' in English and position and direction in Maths.  Next week, we will continue looking at performance poetry and we will move onto fractions.

The children have had another busy and productive week.  We have been busy writing biographies about the Queen and have learnt some interesting facts about her.  In Maths, we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes.  We are looking forward to seeing you at our Open Afternoon next Friday (10th) at 2:30pm.

Comic Strips and Stories...

We have been very busy writing stories and making comic strips over the last two weeks, using short video clips as a starting point.  In Maths, the children have worked really hard on their addition and subtraction and will continue with this next week, as well as looking at shape. A letter about our upcoming Open Afternoon will be coming home this Friday (27th), so look out for it in your child's bag.

Supertato!

The children have enjoyed the story of 'Supertato' and writing a character description of him.  We will look at the beginning, middle and end of stories next week.  In Maths, we have been looking at place value and understanding the amount of tens and units in a number.  We have also looked at sequences of numbers and multiples of 2, 5 and 10.  Next week we will be looking at and reasoning about addition.

The children have settled back into school really well after the break.  Next week we will be looking at 'Supertato' in English and writing character descriptions. In Maths, we will be continuing to look at place value and properties of numbers.

What Stars!

Well done to all the children on their fantastic performances this week.  They really did themselves proud and we hope that everyone who watched the performances enjoyed them as much as we did!  As well as performing, the children have been busy finishing off the 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures' topic and completing assessments.  Next week, we will be looking at measures in Maths and poetry in English.  We are sure that we will squeeze in a few Christmas activities too!

Christmas is coming...

We have been very busy this week perfecting the Christmas play.  We are looking forward to performing to you next week.  Remember to send any unwanted tickets back to the office, so that if anyone needs extras they will be able to ask for them.  Please help to practise lines, we have been really thinking about speaking in a 'playground' loud voice.  Next week, as well as performing, we will be looking at time in Maths and starting to finish off our topic 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures'.  A letter about our upcoming visit to the Methodist Church will be coming home next week, as well as our party letter.

New Post Title

The children have been very busy over the last two weeks.  In English, they have been writing stories and instructions based on George's Marvellous Medicine.  The children are now very good at knowing what an imperative verb is!  Maths has focussed on shape this week and the children have enjoyed the practical activities we planned for them.  Next week, we will be giving out the parts for the Christmas play and looking at money in Maths and writing a diary in English.
