Good luck!

Posted 13/6/2018

Both our Y3/4 and Y5/6 tennis teams are taking part in the rescheduled area finals tomorrow and next Thursday our Y5/6 team compete in the area Kwik Cricket competition.  We will get an account from the children when they have taken part and let you know how they got on.  What is fantastic to note (apart from qualifying for these events) is the behaviour demonstrated by the children whenever they represent school.  They really are good ambassadors for the school.  Well done!

Superhero visit

Posted 24/5/2018

All the children got to see an assembly this morning led by "Power Down Pete" (otherwise known as Peter
Bell the NYCC Schools Carbon Reduction Officer).  He got the children to think about reducing, reusing and recycling waste and then led some workshops for the children in Key Stage 2 about food waste and the problems of plastic. Thanks to our Rights Respecting Ambassadors Seren and Benjamin who invited him into school following some discussions held at one of their recent meetings.

Tchoukball

Posted 16/5/2018

Here is what Carter, Dawn and Annie thought of the competition held last week.  Tchoukball is a game a bit like netball and basketball but instead of hoops you have a Tchoukball trampoline.  The aim of the game is to throw a handball against a trampoline. If someone catches it you don’t score a point but if it bounces on the floor you score a point. You can run to any trampoline but you are not allowed to intercept the ball and if you throw the ball at the trampoline the person has to catch it to stop them getting the point. If they don’t catch the ball it is a point to the opposing team. You are only allowed to move three steps or less. First we did some warm up friendship exercises which included working as a team with other schools. After that we were taught how to play by throwing the ball to one another and racing to the opposite side.  We were up against five other schools from around the area. We all think we did quite well and that we tried our best. We worked very well as a team. It was a bit challenging because we had not played before but we really enjoyed it.

A busy week

Posted 25/4/2018

The new term has got off to a busy start with each year group launching their new Imaginative Learning Projects.  Information about these projects has been sent home and is also available on our school website.  The Y3/4 visit to Thorp Perrow and Y1 visit to Preston Park are mentioned below by some of the children who enjoyed their days out of school.  Some of our Y5 children are currently at East Barnby Outdoor Education Centre learning a whole new range of skills while our Y2 children, with some Y6 Young Leaders, took part in the Chance to Shine Cricket event at Broomfield school.  They were great representatives for the school and after the event we got this message from the organiser;

“I just want to say how fantastic all the players, leaders and teachers were today. I thought the whole morning was a brilliant effort by all and that all the children can be extremely proud of themselves.”
